Kano State HISBA ban use of Mannequin (Fashion Doll) for advertisement.

Kano State HISBA ban use of Mannequin (Fashion Doll) for advertisement.

The Hisbah Commission has sparked controversy after it ordered shops to remove the heads of Mannequins used to advertise clothing.

“Islam does not like dealing with idols, “said Harun Ibn-Sina, chief of the staff says.

“She looks very much like a man especially when her head is put on”.

“Also, leaving her naked, her breasts and bottom shows is also against Islam.”

Naked Mannequin

Kano is one of the 12 Muslim Northern States of Nigeria. It should be said that the legal system only works for Muslims.

Merchants in Sabon Gari, a part of the state with a predominantly Christian population, have expressed dissatisfaction with Hisbah’s order.

Chinedu Anya, a shopkeeper, said that using mannequin, make the clothes beautiful and good in look for passers-by so removing it would affect his business.

After all the complaints,

Ibn Sina says “Everybody can use the Mannequin, but he must remove the head and cover the body with clothes especially the breast.”
